The Boston Bruins have confirmed a surprising roster move ahead of puck drop against the New Jersey Devils.

Yesterday the Boston Bruins made a surprising two player roster transaction after they announced that gritty forward Mark Kastelic was heading back on Injury Reserved.

The Bruins confirmed that Max Jones, and Patrick Brown have both been recalled from the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League.

Today Boston Bruins head coach Joe Sacco confirmed a roster move that is surprising.

Cole Koepke, who suffered an upper-body injury playing against his former team in the Tampa Bay Lightning ended up practicing today with the Bruins but is still not good to go according to head coach Joe Sacco.

Joe Sacco did reveal that one of the players involved in the two player roster transaction the Bruins made yesterday will be playing tonight against the New Jersey Devils.

According to Mike Morreale on X, Joe Sacco stated that Max Jones will play tonight against the New Jersey Devils.

Per Bruins coach Joe Sacco: Max Jones, recalled from Providence (AHL) on Tuesday, will play; Koepke (upper body) participated in morn skate but remains out; Lindholm, McAvoy, Kastelic & Frederik (illness) didn't make the trip to Jersey. Jeremy Swayman is your Bruins starter.

Max Jones ended up starting the year off with the Boston Bruins after being signed in the off-season, but ended up getting placed on waivers and sent down to the Providence Bruins in the AHL after just four games with the Bruins.

Jones has appeared in four games with the Boston Bruins this year and has 0 points on the year along with a minus-4.

It will be interesting to see how his second stint with the Bruins goes, after he has been producing pretty well for the Providence Bruins.
