It sounds like Jeremy Swayman's recent comments leave nothing to the imagination, as he's not willing to take less money than he deserves from the Boston Bruins.

As the 2024-2025 season is set to start soon, the Boston Bruins and their starting goalie Jeremy Swayman have yet to come to terms on a new contract.

The star goalie recently appeared on the "Shut Up Marc!" Podcast and his comments offer insight into negotiations with the team. He gave a perspective from the athlete's side of contract negotiations.

"If you were to ask me that same question a year ago, I would answer truthfully. And I would say, 'It's scary. It's a lot of resentment towards people that want you to succeed.' And when you're not being compensated for your endless efforts and doing what you do best, it's a nerve-wracking feeling because it's your family that you're fighting for.

For the answer that I'm going to give you this year is that I've educated myself and that I understand the business side of it all, and it's given me a complete new mindset of understanding the business and how to react to it. I understand the cap is going up and where it will be in years. I understand my comparables and how I can't ruin the goalie market for other guys that are going to be in my shoes down the line."

Swayman's major at the University of Maine was Business, and he's continued his education through the NHLPA at Stanford University. This year he's prepared to defend himself, and his stellar play at the negotiation table. But even then with the cons, playing with the Bruins has been a dream realized for the goalie.

"I think 10-year-old Jeremy Swayman didn't think in a million years that he'd be in this position he's in and the city he's in, and the amount of gratitude that I have to be in this situation completely covers up the negative side of everything. I couldn't be happier to be in this situation. At the end of the day, I'm stopping pucks for the Boston Bruins."

Last offseason, Swayman opted for arbitration of which he was awarded a $3.475 Million dollar contract. This year, both sides would not file for arbitration ensuring negotiations would continue beyond free-agency.

With August almost finished, the Bruins and their star RFA are running out of time.
