The Boston Bruins have officially lost a top-4 defenseman to free agency following recent reports from an NHL insider.

It's unclear on who is expected to come back from the current list of free agents the Bruins have, but it was recently reported that Derek Forbort will not be coming back to the Boston Bruins and will test free agency this off-season.

It's been known for awhile that Milan Lucic will not be returning after what happened with him and his wife in November, and David Pagnotta reported that Forbort will be another Bruin that will not be getting an extension this off-season.

Forbort dealt with a lot of injuries this year, but even when healthy during the playoffs the Bruins sat him for the majority of their games. Forbort only appeared in 3 playoff games, while being healthy scratched for most of the other games.

It's clear the Boston Bruins are going to move on from him and feel like the players they had step in this year are a better fit for the team moving forward.

Another Boston Bruins player that a lot of fans aren't sure will come back is Jake DeBrusk, there has been a lot of rumours surrounding him leaving the Bruins in the off-season as Sweeney made it clear they are taking an aggressive approach with him.

Don Sweeney has an interesting off-season ahead, stay tuned for further details.
