With the off-season upcoming, Sweeney has a priority and one of them is goalie Jeremy Swayman.
Now the team's #1 goalie, Sweeney will have to lock him down long-term and fill the eventual space left by Ullmark, once traded.
Once Ullmark's cap space is cleared and dealt to a team who he would waive his no-trade clause to, he could be given a long-term contract.
Using Juuse Saros as an example his 2021 contract had four years of term, to which Swayman could be projected at 5, with a $6 Million AAV, comparable to Saros' 2021 contract.
Swayman has 144 games of NHL experience, with a .920 save percentage, much like Saros' 155 games in 2021 and a .920 save percentage.
This will give not only the Bruins 5 years of certainty in net, but this gives Swayman a home for the next half-a-decade.
Swayman's last season with the Boston Bruins totals are as follows: 25-10-8, 2.53 GAA, and .916 save percentage.
In 12 playoff games: 6-5-1, 2.15 GAA, and a .933 save percentage.
Pay that man his money.
