As the Boston Bruins are gearing up to take on a divisional rival in the Ottawa Senators tomorrow, they got some bad news as head coach Joe Sacco confirmed they will be without a key depth forward.
Today, following practice, interim head coach Joe Sacco confirmed that the Boston Bruins will be entering their game against the Ottawa Senators without forward Cole Koepke.
From Joe Sacco:
Joe Sacco revealed that Koepke will be missing from the game due to an upper-body injury that he suffered on Tuesday against his former team in the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Late in the game against the Lightning, Koepke received a pass breaking out of his defensive zone, when Darren Raddysh caught him with his head down, and landed a big hit along the boards.
Originally the officials called a major penalty on the play after Koepke laid there for awhile before getting up, but after review they ultimately ended up not calling a penalty on the play.
Watching the replay, it's clear that Raddysh made contact with Koepke's head, which is believed to be what injured him.
Here is the hit:
Koepke is having a career year for the Bruins as he has set career highs in goals, assists and points this season with the Boston Bruins.
In 44 games this season he has four goals, along with 7 assists for 12 points while playing fourth line minutes for the Boston Bruins.
