The Bruins and Don Sweeney have announced that they have inked defensive prospect Loke Johansson to a three-year entry-level contract that is going to carry a cap hit of $860,000 at the NHL level, but no minor-league or bonus details were disclosed by the team.
Loke Johansson who is about to turn 19 next month, was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the sixth-round during the 2024 Entry Level Draft with the 186th overall pick.
At just 19 years old he is already 6-foot-3 214 pounds, and has turned out to be a stand out stay-at-home defender, a reason the Bruins drafted him.
Last year when playing professionally in Sweden, Johansson showed a lot of upside instead of just being a heavy hitter and an enforcer. Johansson was a part of the AIK organization where he had 13 points, a +5 rating in 33 games with the U-20 team.
Loke Johansson is currently playing the in QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats who are currently dominating the league being 12-2-2 as of right now, and in 15 games Johansson has appeared in he has one goal along with four assists, with 16 penalty minutes and a +9 rating.
During this years training camp, Johansson impressed a lot of people in the Boston Bruins organization despite being drafted so late in the draft this year.
It's unlikely we will see Johansson play with the Bruins this year, and maybe not next year either, but Johansson will quickly become a fan favourite with the Bruins organization as he fits their style of play perfectly.
