Coming off the holiday break, the Boston Bruins hit the ice against the Buffalo Sabres, eager to extend their lead in the Atlantic Division.

The game took a dramatic turn when Bruins' captain Brad Marchand faced a controversial cross-checking call on Sabres' Dylan Cozens, resulting in a two-minute penalty.

Despite video evidence suggesting Marchand held back, the referees weren't swayed. Marchand's vocal discontent landed him an extra two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Colby Armstrong, an NHL on TNT analyst, didn't hold back, criticizing the call and emphasizing the need for referees to have thicker skin.

Armstrong: «I'd be mad, too!»

McHugh: «Anson Carter, you didn't love the call?

Carter: «No.»

Armstrong: «Like brutal call. If you look at it, he was going to cross-check him which is so on brand but then he goes, OK. I'm not gonna cross-check him; I'm just gonna bump him down.

Give him the penalty; get it right. Get thicker skin! Big deal. The guy's upset. Skate away. Call the two minutes.»

In a fortunate turn for Boston, they successfully defended against the Sabres' power play, and Marchand, despite the penalties, played a pivotal role with two assists in the Bruins' 4-1 triumph.
