The Boston Bruins, being apart of the original six and being in the NHL from the start in 1926 have some rich history.

Today, back in 1992, the Los Angeles Kings traded goalie Daniel Berthiaume to the Bruins in exchange for future considerations.

33 years ago today ON THIS DAY in hockey history (January 18, 1992):

The @NHLBruins acquire Daniel Berthiaume from the @LAKings for future considerations

Both the Bruins and the Kings made the playoffs that year, however, the trade benefited one team, and it was the Bruins. That year, Boston finished ninth in the league while Los Angeles finished tenth, and Boston made it further in the playoffs, losing in the Conference Finals.

Berthiaume was selected in the 3rd round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets. He made his debut one year later with Winnipeg. He would then go on to play a season with the Minnesota North Stars, the two teams involved in the deal, and finish his NHL career playing two more seasons with the Ottawa Senators. Berthiaume would play in multiple minor league's afterwards and hang the skates up in 2005, 16 years ago.

Berthiaume, now 58 years old, was traded when he was 26. Daniel didn't play well that entire 1991-92 season, but went from a 4.04 GAA and a 3.14 GAA when he went to Boston, but his SV% stayed under .900 on both teams.

Berthiaume didn't do very well in Boston, as he had a 3.14 GAA and a .865 SV% and won one game out of the eight he played in the second half of the year.

Although Berthiaume had a below-average tenure, they still got him for pretty much nothing, so in the end, it wasn't that bad of a trade.
