Brad Marchand sends a stern message to Sam Bennett moments before the game
Today marks the beginning of the regular season for the Boston Bruins, and they are taking on the Stanley Cup Champions, who were also the team to knock the Boston Bruins out in 6 games during the second-round of the playoffs last year, the Florida Panthers.
The last two seasons the Boston Bruins have fell victim to the Florida Panthers in the playoffs, but last years was a little different. It was a much more physical postseason matchup between the two teams, and a big notable moment from the series was when Brad Marchand was knocked out for two games after a dirty blindside hit from Panthers forward Sam Bennett.
Marchand sent a stern message to Sam Bennett, stating he doesn't hold any resentment toward Bennett for the hit, and he also stated there isn't any hate heading into this game towards Sam Bennett.
«Listen, that's part of the playoffs,» Marchand told reporters, per a team-provided video. «I said it plenty of times. In playoff time, if you can knock players out, it only gives your team an advantage. That happens. Teams play very physical. They're a very physical team, and it's part of their DNA. You play this game never expecting to get hurt. Been on my end of both sides of the shots. Again, it's part of the game. He definitely got away with one. You can see the play and everything. That's the way the game goes. I'm not holding any animosity. I'm gonna play just as hard as I always do. It's part of the game.»
The Boston Bruins will be looking to make a statement against the Stanley Cup Champions tonight, hopefully the Boston Bruins bring their A game tonight.
