Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand spoke out on things he loved about the Bruins game against the New York Islanders.

The Bruins finally got off to a really good start last night against the New York Islanders, and it was all thanks to the captain himself. Marchand scored two quick goals for the Bruins one coming just 57 seconds into the game and the other at the 6:31 mark in the first period.

The Bruins ended up holding a 3-1 lead in the second period, when the Islanders started to push back, and it looked like the Bruins were going to blow another lead. Late in the second period the New York Islanders scored to tie the game up at 3 a piece, but in the third period it was all Boston Bruins.

Pavel Zacha ended up scoring the game winner, and then netting another one later on in the third period, and Nikita Zadorov ended the game by scoring his first as a Bruin with an empty net goal.

Here is what Marchand had to say about the Bruins win:

«It's important to get a good start in, kind of sets the tempo for the game,» Marchand told reporters in New York, as seen on NESN's postgame coverage. «They did a really good job pushing back, a really tight game all the way through, but I just love the way we played in the third.

«It's always about a 60-minute effort. You can start well and kind of tail off through the game. We did a good job of continuing our pace. We made a couple of mistakes. That's going to happen, but we had a good game.»

Even though the Bruins did end up getting outshot against the Islanders, they look like they are playing to their identity once again as they have been a much harder team to play against under interim head coach Joe Sacco.

During Sacco's four games as head coach of the Boston Bruins, the Bruins have outshot opponents 113-81, where when Jim Montgomery was head coach, the Bruins were being heavily out played and out shot every game.

Marchand stated that the Bruins success is coming from the details of their game.

«That's where we've been having success the last little bit and where we always have,» Marchand said. «That's what the foundation of this team has always been - executing on details and being committed to the structure.»
