The Boston Bruins Captain Brad Marchand was absent from practice today, on October 15th according to Jim Montgomery.

Marchand had multiple surgeries during the offseason, which gave us all cause for concern as the Bruins leader was busted up during the playoffs.

As reported in September, we weren't sure when we'd see Brad Marchand back in the line-up. But we've been lucky for him to slot into the lineup, feeling healthy, at least we think so.

In the last 4 games for the Bruins, he's scored 2 points and has contributed on the 2nd line for the team.

Should we be concerned that he took today off?

According to Ty Anderson of 98.5 the Sports Hub Marchand isn't expected to miss any more time.

This year is a contract year for the forward and will be his 16th year with the Bruins.

According to Anderson, Marchand isn't expected to miss any of the 2024-25 season, which is the last on his current contract. Marchand is set to enter the final year of an eight-year contract he signed in 2016 that earned him $6.125 million annually.

Marchand does not plan on opening up plans for the future or if he has started talks about an extension with the Bruins.

Marchand is close to tallying 1,000 points with the Bruins, as he stands at 929 currently (401 G, 528 A) and was a key piece during the Boston Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup championship.

He's evolved from a fourth-line "contributor" to a top-six scoring forward and has no plans of stopping anytime soon.

Marchand may have missed practice today, but it sounds like it is nothing to worry about, and no word of nagging complications from recent surgeries that we can find.

If Marchand can continue his production from last season, he should eclipse 1000 points in this season or the next, if he scores above 70 points.

Boston coach Jim Montgomery said Marchand's absence was simply a maintenance day for his veteran captain before the team departed for Colorado to start a three-game road trip. Marchand is likely to sit out occasional practices over the course of the season.

Wipe the sweat off your brow, all is well with the newest Bruins Captain.
