A somber announcement emerged from the Boston Bruins organization today.
It is with heavy hearts that the Boston Bruins inform the hockey community of the passing of their former captain, Ed Sandford, who has left us at the age of 95.
Details surrounding his passing remain limited at this time.
Ed Sandford enjoyed a nine-year career in the NHL, participating in 502 games and contributing 251 points. Much of his time in the league was dedicated to the Bruins, where he donned the captain's C during the 1954-55 season.
In addition to his tenure with the Bruins, Sandford also made appearances with the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks.
Our deepest condolences go out to Ed Sandford's family during this difficult time.
