Yesterday the Boston Bruins completed a transaction, and send Marc McLaughlin down to the American Hockey League, but it looks like it was just a paper transaction.
According to the American Hockey League wire, the Bruins sent Marc McLaughlin down to the Providence Bruins, but it looks as if this was just a paper transaction.
Today, looking at the American Hockey League transactions page it shows that the Bruins have recalled Marc McLaughlin.
After the allowable roster moves during the roster freeze, McLaughlin was eligible to be recalled to the NHL active roster because he was recalled in a different transaction after December 11th. It was just a paper move, but this gave the Bruins the ability to bank some cap space for a short period.
McLaughlin is in his fourth year of professional hockey, and it's another hybrid year for him.
When playing in the NCAA, McLaughlin was producing at a point per game, but he has had a hard time transitioning that into the professional ranks. In the American Hockey League McLaughlin has improved this year having 10 points, 5 goals, and 5 assists, in 15 games.
McLaughlin has shown some flashes during his career that he could be a solid NHL player, but his lack of consistency in the American Hockey League has prohibited him from getting a real shot in the NHL.
