The Boston Bruins have made a roster move ahead of the NHL's regular season, as rookie defenseman Mason Lohrei and forward Patrick Brown have both been assigned to the AHL's Providence Bruins.

The decision to assign Lohrei and Brown to the AHL reflects the Bruins' efforts to finalize their opening night roster for the 2023-24 season. This move allows them to ensure that the roster is in compliance with the NHL's salary cap regulations.
There were rumours that Don Sweeney was working some lines to possibly trade Forbort and or Grzelcyk to make room for Lohrei on the roster but looks like nothing panned out.
Mason Lohrei, a highly regarded prospect, had been in contention for a spot on the Bruins' blue line. However, with the competitive nature of the NHL, the team has chosen to give him further development time in the AHL.
Patrick Brown, known for his solid depth play, also found himself on waivers but has cleared them and will join the AHL Bruins for the upcoming season.
