Bruins Prospect Gets Cut From Team Following A Recent Announcement
Chris Pelosiwas selected by the Boston Bruins 92nd overall in the 2023 NHL Draft. This season, he had a shot at competing in the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships, and his hopes have been dashed.
The 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship's will once against take place this summer. Team USA hockey held a training camp in Plymouth, MI and the final roster has been released.
Of those released from the camp, who will not be traveling to Ottawa to take part in the IIHF WJC will be one Boston Bruins prospect, Chris Pelosi.
Pelosi has started the 2024-2025 season with the Quinnipiac Bobcat and has played 15 games in the ECAC and scored 5 points( 2G, 3 A).
«It's always tough to get through the selection process as we have so many great players in our country,» said John Vanbiesbrouck, general manager of the 2025 U.S. National Junior Team and assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey. «We turn our focus now to giving our team every opportunity to come together as we continue preparing for the tournament.»
While it's disappointing for Pelosi, he'll get more time to mature as he can continue to play more collegiate games with Quinnipiac and grow as a prospect.
"He knows what he is and what it's going to take to be successful at higher levels," hockey scouting outlet, the Neutral Zone, wrote about Pelosi back in 2021. "He is a force on the forecheck. He finishes everything with the purpose of being disruptive and creating turnovers. And as soon as there's a loose puck, he is attacking the net with his stick on the ice looking to score goals or generate scoring opportunities. He carries himself like a leader and expects his teammates to play hard, be accountable and make the right hockey play."
Pelosi was ranked 127th amongst North American skaters entering the 2023 NHL Draft.
This could end up being a temporary setback, and a learning experience for the prospect.
