Major Suspension: NHL Player Safety Lays Down The Hammer With Massive Suspension To Fan Favourite
Fan favourite Matt Rempe got the hammer laid down on him by NHL Player Safety following a controversial hit the other night.
On Friday night Matt Rempe got ejected against the Dallas Stars after boarding/elbowing Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen.
This play took place just before the mid-way point in the third period, of course Matt Rempe was handed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for this hit. This wasn't his first go around, as he has been suspended multiple times before.

Rempe just got called back to the New York Rangers lineup Friday for the first time since November 25th, as General Manager Chris Drury was looking to change some things on the Rangers roster after the drama that has taken place in New York this year.
The NHL Player Safety announced yesterday that Matt Rempe was going to have an in-person hearing, which would give them the opportunity to suspend him for longer then five games.

After their game this afternoon, the NHL announced that Matt Rempe will have to serve an eight games suspension before being able to return to the Rangers lineup.
NY Rangers' Matt Rempe has been suspended for eight games for boarding/elbowing Dallas' Miro Heiskanen.
Chris Johnston revealed that in those eight games, Rempe will be forfeiting $80,000.
Matt Rempe is considered a repeat offender and will forfeit $80,000 in salary for his eight-game suspension.
