Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic's name has been swirling in the rumor mill, as trade talks continue to pick up, thanks to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman. Could the big power forward be next to be benched?

The Boston Bruins started the 2024 season, with a lackluster performance leading to head coach Jim Montgomery being fired.

Fast forward to now, and Joe Sacco has breathed new life into the organization. Yet there are some players who have failed to live up to expectations.

One of them being, forward Trent Frederic, who has scored only 11 points this season, in 39 games.

Could he catch some games in the press box before the team moves him? One Bruins Insider Jimmy Murphy, thinks so.

Could a move like this in the future signal a trade?

Given that Frederic is a pending UFA, with a $4.6 million cap hit, and has yet to sign a deal, is it a ridiculous idea that he could be traded in March?

Frederic is in the final season of a two-year $4.6MM contract that expires on July 1st, 2025, at which time he will become an unrestricted free agent. The teams calling on Frederic are asking if Boston intends to sign Frederic or what their thinking could be going forward.

More troubling is his lack of finishing ability, which has dropped significantly.

While the drop in production is concerning, the biggest issue for Frederic has been his shooting percentage which has dropped from 14.6% to 9.3%.

He hasn't inked an extension with the Bruins, and the team isn't a finished product even at 3rd in the Atlantic Division.

Could Joe Sacco scratch him, and give him sometime to reflect on where his play has gone wrong this season?
