Bruins forward Trent Frederic is struggling due to feeling the pressure of playing during a contract year and he worries he is going to lose his spot with the Bruins.

Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic came up big for them in their recent game as he scored twice to help the Bruins have a comeback win against the Flyers in the third.

But Frederic has been struggling this year, and he came out and stated that he feels pressure to produce because he is set to be a free agent this off-season.

«I'd like to say no, but I mean, you never know, maybe a little bit internally,» Frederic said after Boston's 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden on Saturday. «I feel like every year I've been in the NHL, I've been fighting to stay in and get another contract. I don't know if that's just in my head, but that's how it feels. You see guys get replaced easily in the NHL. It's like that every year. There's definitely a little bit, but nothing crazy.»

Frederic has just five goals, 6 assists on the year through 29 games for the Boston Bruins, and his goals he scored on Saturday were his first in nine games.

Due to his contract situation with the Boston Bruins, his name has been involved in a bunch of NHL trade rumours this year. If the Boston Bruins do want to trade him closer to the deadline, there are going to be a bunch of contending teams that will be interested in the 27-year-old RFA.

Elliotte Friedman, who host's the 32 Thoughts Podcast stated that people in Boston are unsure if the Bruins are going to want to re-sign Frederic with how much he has struggled this year, and stated it could impact how much the Bruins would get back for him.

The Boston Bruins believe that Frederic scoring on Saturday is going to kick start him going back to form, as many of the other Boston Bruins players have since Joe Sacco took over.

«He started to move his feet better as the game went on,» said Sacco. «He was direct, and he was attacking the net. I just noticed him around the net front quite a bit, and that's a good sign for Freddie.»

The Boston Bruins have gone back to their identity of being the Big Bad Bruins, as they have been playing a more physical brand of hockey since Joe Sacco became head coach.

«They're confident guys, and they're easy to play with,» said Frederic. «They're straight-line players. [Coyle] finds a lot and Kasty is the same way. We can make a good amount of plays out there. We've done that the last so many games, and I feel like [Sacco] kind of believes in us as a good defensive line, so it's nice to have that as well."

The Bruins are playing good hockey under Sacco and their record shows that. They are 7-2-0 under Sacco and are playing their best hockey they have been all year.

It would be nice if the Bruins could get Frederic going becuase he could be a big success for them come playoffs.
