David Pastrnak responded to Pavel Zacha sticking up for him after being on the receiving end of a dirty hit from a former teammate in AJ Greer.

The Boston Bruins have faced some tough opponents to start off the 2024-25 season, and they've had to assert their physicality quickly.

In just six days, the Boston Bruins faced the Florida Panthers twice, and both games felt like a rematch of the playoffs. Unfortunately for the Boston Bruins they were on the losing end of both games, but they didn't shy away when push came to shove.

During their most recent meeting, the Panthers continued to try and push around the Bruins top players, especially David Pastrnak. AJ Greer a former Boston Bruin landed a dirty hit from behind on David Pastrnak that would leave him bloody, and Pavel Zacha was not a fan of it. Zacha went after Greer and challenged him to a fight, something you don't really see out of Pavel Zacha.

«I didn't see him coming. He was behind,» Pastrnak told reporters of the Greer hit Tuesday, per a team-provided video. «I don't know if it was a cross-check or just a good push because he was far behind, so I didn't see it. I didn't make much of it, but then I saw Pav fight. Good to see but didn't make much of it.»

Zacha is not a known fighter, unlike his opponent AJ Greer, who is known to stir the pot and get under the skins of opponents, and Zacha dropping the gloves for his line mate, didn't go unappreciated.

«He's a big boy. It's definitely appreciated to see him,» Pastrnak said. «We always have each other's back, and we always do that in this room. It's great to see, and I'm proud of him.»

Pastrnak stated that he appreciated Pavel Zacha for doing what he did, and having his back, and that Pastrnak would do the same thing for him if he had too. But Zacha wasn't the only one to stand up for Pastrnak, as Marchand did as well not long after Zacha's fight, and dropped the gloves with Nate Schmidt who went after David Pastrnak.

Now the Boston Bruins are heading out of town for a three-game road trip starting off against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.
