Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery just confirmed Brad Marchand's status following practice this morning.

This morning Brad Marchand was absent from the Boston Bruins practice, but there was speculation that it was due to maintenance, and Jim Montgomery just confirmed it.

No Brad Marchand at today's practice. I'm guessing maintenance day, but we'll find out for sure when we talk to Montgomery after.

Following practice Jim Montgomery spoke to the media and confirmed that Brad Marchand was absent from practice due to maintenance.

Montgomery: «Maintenance day» for Marchand.

Brad Marchand was involved in a fight during the Boston Bruins last game against the Florida Panthers. David Pastrnak was the victim of a dirty hit from behind, and Pavel Zacha stuck up for him forcing A.J. Greer to drop the gloves for the hit he delivered on Pastrnak.

Later on in the first period David Pastrnak interfered with Sam Reinhart, and Nate Schmidt went to go after Pastrnak, when Brad Marchand came flying in and dropped the gloves with him. Although it was more of a wrestling match, the captain was standing up for his superstar player.

The Boston Bruins head out to Colorado to play the Avalanche in their next game.
