Former Boston Bruins goaltender, Linus Ullmark's situation took an unexpected turn.

Linus Ullmark was considered the Boston Bruins number one goaltender for the past couple of years, even winning the Vezina Trophy during the 2022-23 season.

Ultimately during the 2023-24 season, Jeremy Swayman started to take over, and it wasn't until the playoffs when the Boston Bruins knew he was going to be their number one goaltender. He appeared in 12 out of the 13 playoff games last season.

Heading to the deadline there were many rumours that the Boston Bruins were trying to trade Linus Ullmark, and it wasn't long after the Boston Bruins were eliminated by the Florida Panthers in the second-round that they ended up trading him.

The Bruins would trade him to the Ottawa Senators for Mark Kastelic, Joonas Korpisalo and the 25th overall pick in the NHL Draft.

NHL insider Chris Johnson said that the Ottawa want to keep Ullmark long-term, but there haven't been any talks yet of an extension.

I think the strategy right now is to let this breathe a little bit, and give him time to get comfortable in the city and with his new team and broach those contract discussions somewhere weeks or months down the road.

It was reported, not long after Linus Ullmark was traded to the Ottawa Senators that he and his family had bought a house in Ottawa.

So even though as of now it doesn't seem like Ullmark is sticking around, him and his family buying a house in Ottawa indicates that the he will be staying with the Ottawa Senators for the long run.
