Former Boston Bruins enforcer reportedly gaining a lot of trade interest: Bruins to bring him back?
The team played undisciplined hockey until Joe Sacco arrived, but could always afford to improve. One ex-Bruin the team could bring back is Nashville Predators defenseman, Jeremy Lauzon.
Lauzon has an affordable cap hit with a $2 Million price tag and plays a style of hockey that is purely "Bruins" hockey. It's heavy, and last season led the league in hits with 386.
Last season Lauzon scored 6 goals and 14 points, a career-high, and this season has seen him generate interest around the league in his talents.
Lauzon has appeared in 22 games this season, where he has one assist to go along with an impressive 103 hits
Despite Barry Trotz's moves this season, it appears that Lauzon isn't on the block according to Elliotte Friedman.
However, while teams are expressing interest in Lauzon, Friedman also noted that the Predators do not want to move him. It is understandable, as he is a key part of their blueline due to his hard-nosed style of play and shutdown ability. However, that likely won't stop teams from trying to acquire him as we continue to get closer to the deadline.
Lauzon was originally a Bruins draft pick in 2015, selected 52nd overall in the 2nd round. He played 76 games as a Bruin, with 11 points( 3 G, 8 A), 145 hits, and a +12 rating.
The young defenseman competes hard, skates pretty well, generally makes good decisions with and without the puck, and has more offensive skill than he displays. He has a good stick when it comes to breaking up plays. Is willing to lay out to block shots and will step up for his teammates when the situation requires. He has the tools to succeed in the NHL and is still learning to put them together. Can play either side, which also adds value at the highest level.
Lauzon was part of the original expansion roster for the Seattle Kraken after the Bruins left him exposed for the draft. He was selected by the Kraken on July 21st, 2021.
He'd later be traded to the Nashville Predators on March 20th, 2022 for a 2022 2nd round draft pick.
What happened to the 2nd round pick in 2022? That became AHL winger Jani Nyman who plays for the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
Lauzon has played 310 games in the NHL during his career, scoring 45 points( 14 G, 31 A) and 335 PIMs.
He could be a great addition to the Bruins roster and is already familiar with the organization if he could be pried from Barry Trotz's hands.
