Some game changing injury news has struck the Bruins vs Islanders matchup tonight as the New York Islanders are expected to get Alexander Romanov back.

The New York Islanders are set to get some reinforcements back tonight as defenseman Alexander Romanov is expected to return back to the blue line against the Boston Bruins.

According to NESN Alexander Romanov missed the Islander's last game against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday due to an illness, in which the Islanders would go on to lose 4-2.

New York is expected to get defenseman Alexander Romanov back after missing Monday's loss to the Detroit Red Wings due to illness.

Romanov is not a game changing offensive player, but he is one of the better shutdown, aggressive defenseman who likes to throw the body a lot. During the 2021-22 season Romanov lead the Montreal Canadiens in hits and blocks with 144 blocks, and 227 hits which was sixth among defenseman that year.

In just 11 games this year for the New York Islanders Romanov has 2 assists, along with 31 hits, and 27 blocks while averaging 21:36 of ice time a game.

In his career of 301 NHL games he has 13 goals, 52 assists for 65 points, and an insane 752 career hits, and 531 blocks. It's clear that Romanov likes to throw the body around, and this is something the Bruins players are going to have to watch out for tonight.

Tonight is going to be a challenge for the Bruins regardless if Romanov is in the lineup or not, the Bruins have been struggling to find the back of the net even with a bunch of talented players on their roster. The Bruins played a great game against the Canucks yesterday but got shutout, and will need to find a way to put one into the back of the net tonight.
