The Boston Bruins made key signings on July 1 to strengthen their contender status for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Milan Lucic and Kevin Shattenkirk returned to Boston, and the team also signed Morgan Geekie to a two-year contract.

This is Geekie's first multi-year deal in the NHL, and he will earn $2 million per year, an increase from his previous salary. Despite being only 24 years old, Geekie has played 180 games in the league, providing an interesting perspective on his relatively short career.

Geekie's NHL journey began when he was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2017. He had a successful stint in the Western Hockey League before joining the Hurricanes' AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers.

In 2019, he won the Calder Cup with the Checkers and made his NHL debut in March 2020, scoring two goals in his first game and another in his third.

Geekie has scored a total of 22 goals in the NHL, showing a balanced distribution of scoring across all three periods.

He has more points on the road than at home, and his plus/minus statistics also differ in each setting. Born in 1998, Geekie is one of 132 players from his birth year to play in the NHL, currently ranking 26th in scoring among them.

Hockey runs in Geekie's family, with his father Craig having played in the WHL, and his brother Connor being a prospect for the Arizona Coyotes. Another brother, Noah, pursued AAA hockey before transitioning to baseball.
