Danton Heinen may not have secured a spot on the Boston Bruins' Opening Night roster just yet, but his recent performances are making a compelling argument in his favor. The winger, who joined the Bruins last month on a professional tryout contract, showcased his skills during Friday night's preseason game against the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden.

Heinen's contributions were noteworthy, with a goal and four shots on net. His play during 5-on-5 ice time demonstrated his impact, with the Bruins having an edge in shot attempts and scoring chances. Heinen's goal, assisted by Kevin Shattenkirk, showcased his offensive capabilities.

While Heinen faces competition for a bottom-six roster spot, his offensive prowess stands out. With the Bruins losing key scorers in the offseason, his ability to contribute offensively is a valuable asset. He has a history of scoring more than 10 goals in multiple seasons, including a career-high of 18 just two years ago.

Additionally, Heinen's playmaking ability sets him apart from his competition. His versatility to play both left and right wing further strengthens his case. Heinen's past connection with Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery from their time together at the University of Denver adds another layer of intrigue.

While Heinen's roster spot is not guaranteed, his offensive talent, versatility, and experience make him a valuable candidate. As Heinen himself stated, he aims to evolve his game and work hard to secure his place on the team.
