The Boston Bruins demoted forward Matthew Poitras to the AHL on November 11th, after playing 14 games for the team. He'd only scored 4 points(1 G, 3 A) with a -4 rating.

Were the Bruins correct in doing so? It seemed that Matthew Poitras was destined to stay in the lineup. Not according to GM Don Sweeney though.

Since then, Poitras has worked on getting another look in the NHL by playing his best hockey.

Poitras struggled with Providence, posting just three assists in his first seven games.

He'd follow up three assists in seven games, with a two-game point streak scoring four points in his last two with the Providence Bruins.

His last game with the P-Bruins saw him notch two points, with a one goal, and one assist scoring his first career NHL goal.

Poitras is close to playing at a point-per-game clip in the AHL, and if he continues to be consistent, he may yet get another call-up.

Of course, he'll have to prove to Don Sweeney his game has improved, scoring 7 points( 1 G, 6 A). But of course, Sweeney would rather ice Justin Brazeau on the 2nd line, and continue to let the lack of talent simmer.

If Sweeney had any urgency he'd make a deal for Morgan Geekie, or Brazeau just to give a player like Poitras a look in the NHL again.

Although he is a bit on the smallish side, he has a high skill level and he competes on every shift. Is a good passer, even in tight spaces, and will take a hit to make a play. His shot is good enough, so defenders must respect it. He needs to get faster and stronger as he matures.

The stats tell the story, as the Bruins are missing playmakers like the young Bruins center in the lineup.

Instead of relying on skilled players, a contradiction is glaring, the tough persona of the Bruins and mythology persists with grinders like Mark Kastelic, and Brazeau taking primacy.

While skill rots on the 1st and 2nd lines without complimentary players.

Poitras needs a hand-up, whether it's from Sacco or Sweeney.
