In recent years, Don Sweeney has proved that he's worth to be among the best when it comes to General Managers in the NHL.

Master of His Trade

In the last two seasons, Sweeney has added top line players, including Hampus Lindholm, Pavel Zacha, Dmitry Orlov and Tyler Bertuzzi but one has stood out the most.

That being Zacha, who has blown past a previous career high of 36 points, by registering 20 goals and 35 assists in his first 79 games with the Boston Bruins.

The former 6th overall pick was acquired from the New Jersey Devils on July 13th, 2022, in exchange for forward Erik Haula. Although Haula is still producing at a good rate with the Devils (47 points in 79 games), Zacha is finally showing why he was selected in the first round.

By Sweeney swapping the two, not only did he help his team this season but the future looks a little brighter. As Zacha signed a four-year, $19 million extension with Boston on January 14th, 2023.
