Pat Maroon issues stern statement on the state of the Bruins
Patrick Maroon issued a stern statement on the state of the future of the Boston Bruins.
Patrick Maroon only spent a limited time with the Boston Bruins during the 2023-24 season, but Maroon noticed that the Bruins have a bright future during his short stint with the team.
The Boston Bruins acquired Patrick Maroon during the NHL trade deadline, but didn't make his debut with the team until the end of the year after having back surgery. Jim Montgomery slated the veteran back into the lineup for the playoffs.
During the 13 games the Bruins played Maroon got to see several of the Bruins future players rise to the occasion during the playoffs and complemented the stars on the Bruins.
That is the reason Patrick Maroon believes Boston has a good chance at winning the best prize any sport has, the Stanley Cup. When asked if he thinks the Bruins have a chance to win, Maroon didn't hesitate at all.
«Absolutely,» Maroon told reporters, per a team-provided video. «I mean, look at the young talent that was inserted into the lineup throughout the year. Justin Brazeau, (John) Beecher, (Mason) Lohrei, Spoons (Parker Wotherspoon) there's a lot of talent in this room. Some of them only played 14 games and then playoffs, some played 15 games, some played 25 games. Imagine if they had a full year under their belt. There's a lot of young talent in this group. I think it's only on the upward.
«It's a group that has great leadership. They can teach these guys if they go through a tough run. For me, I think they can win soon.» The question remains to see if Patrick Maroon will return next year or not as he is 36 and is currently a free agent.
If the Bruins do decide to bring Patrick Maroon back for another year, he would be a really good mentor for the young players the Bruins will have coming up next year.
