On Friday, Kevin Weekes revealed that Nils Hoglander has been gaining some interest from multiple teams around the league, and he specifically pointed out the Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Columbus Blue Jackets as potential teams to land him.
Even though he did not name the Bruins as one of the teams to be in on him, The Hockey News has suggested the Bruins should be in on him if the Canucks are in the market to trade Hoglander.
Hoglander doesn't carry a massive salary cap which is a huge bonus for the Boston Bruins who are pretty tight on cap space. His $1.1 million contract is super affordable for the Bruins, and he wouldn't just be a rental as he signed a three-year, $9 million contract extension with the Vancouver Canucks in October.
Hoglander has a lot of potential and would be a low-risk, high-reward for the Bruins and could replace someone like Morgan Geekie who has been struggling for the Boston Bruins.
Last season Hoglander showed that potential by scoring 24 goals, 36 points along with a plus-23 rating. Playing him on a line with David Pastrnak would set him up for success.
It's possible that just a change of scenery for Hoglander could be beneficial, and the Bruins should 100% be in on the 23-year-old if he is available for trade by the Vancouver Canucks.
Do you think the Boston Bruins should inquire about Nils Hoglander if he becomes available for trade?
