With training camp kicking into gear, many of the Bruins wingers will compete for the desired spot in the middle-six.
The Bruins do have one option, who is not Fabian Lysell, or Georgii Merkulov who should get another look in the NHL.
This time they will give a 6th-round pick from the 2020 NHL Draft, Riley Duran a shot as he has been impressing team brass.
Duran has been shining bright during camp, as a strong two-way forward for the Bruins, playing an effective game on both sides of the ice.
The 22-year-old s is turning heads and has come from behind to make himself a name with the Bruins. This is a great turn of events for Don Sweeney and the Bruins, as they seem to have a number of great prospects, who could turn into NHLers.
Duran isn't well known to NHL fans outside of Providence, fans of the Bruins and camp observers have nothing but high praise for the forward.
Duran played the majority of 2023-2024 with Providence College, skating in 35 games, scoring 16 points( 9 G, 7 A), and would later land in the AHL, with the Providence B's.
He'd skate for 11 games with the AHL Bruins, scoring 4 points( 2 G, 2 A) in that time frame.
It legitimately seems that Duran is en route for a possible breakout, even with a short stint in the AHL.
But is it a matter of Duran showing off his two-way game, or will he remain consistent if he is promoted? These thoughts Don Sweeney and Jim Montgomery will have to ponder.
Though in rankings by site BlacknGoldHockey, it seems Duran was already destined for the NHL, ranked #8 of the Bruins' top ten prospects.
