Former Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has officially been hired after the Boston Bruins fired him.

On Tuesday the Boston Bruins had canceled practice, and many were skeptical as to why, and it wasn't until later in the evening when we found out why.

Later on in the day on Tuesday Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced that the Boston Bruins had fired Jim Montgomery.

Sweeney also announced that Joe Sacco the assistant head coach of the Bruins for 10 years would take over for Jim Montgomery.

According to Chris Johnston the St. Louis Blues have hired Jim Montgomery to a five-year deal.

Here's the official report:

Jim Montgomery signed a five-year deal to become #stlblues head coach. Drew Bannister had this season and next year remaining on his deal.

There were rumours that Jim Montgomery was set to sign with the St. Louis Blues as he still has a house out there.

Jim Montgomery will now take over as the head coach for the Blues, and brings some experience with him.

His all-time record with the Boston Bruins was 120-43-21.

It took Jim Montgomery just five days after being fired to get a new head coaching job.

When the Bruins last fired Bruce Cassidy, it took him eight days after being fired to get a new head coaching position.

Monty hired 5 days after firing. Cassidy was 8 days after firing #NHLBruins #GetBent

Do you still think that firing Jim Montgomery was the right move by the Boston Bruins?
