The Boston Bruins were able to shut out the Philadelphia Flyers with a 3-0 victory and it seems that one of the youngsters is taking a leap forward.

Matthew Poitras scored a goal Saturday against the Flyers rookie goalie Alexis Kolosov.

Poitras had returned to the lineup shortly after injury and has played ten games this season. He's been the third-line center, with Trent Frederic and Morgan Geekie flanking him.

He's been the only reliable producer on his line, with 4 points( 1 G, 3 A), 8 shots on goal, and 2 blocks.

Montgomery gave his fair assessment of Poitras in late September:

"Good. And the reason I don't say great is because I think he's a little hesitant in some areas of his game still, and that's normal,'' Montgomery said. "He's been out for 8 months, but you see it coming back more and more."

It seems that Poitras has found his game once again, and is a standout on the 3rd line.

Although he is a bit on the smallish side, he has a high skill level and he competes on every shift. Is a good passer, even in tight spaces, and will take a hit to make a play. His shot is good enough, so defenders must respect it. He needs to get faster and stronger as he matures.

So why is he stuck there, when Charlie Coyle has 1 point in 12 games and has yet to receive a demotion? Montgomery has had the line blender out, so why not give Poitras the push he deserves?

The stats above at 5v5 speak for themselves, he's a leading driver of offense on a team that lacks it lately.

It seems to me that it's another example of a coach yet again prioritizing veterans over growing rookie talent.
