Amid a flurry of events, Corey Perry found himself at the center of controversy earlier this season.

The Chicago Blackhawks terminated his contract due to workplace misconduct violations. However, Perry swiftly landed a deal with the Edmonton Oilers after receiving reassurances from Commissioner Gary Bettman.

In a surprising twist, news broke today of a settlement between Perry and the Blackhawks over a threatened contract grievance.

The NHL and NHLPA have reached a resolution on the Corey Perry contract termination by Chicago from earlier this season.

Ultimately, no grievance was filed on the matter.

According to reports from the Chicago-Sun Times, the Blackhawks will incur a minor salary-cap charge as part of the settlement.

"The Hawks will incur a small salary-cap charge as a result of the settlement, the Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli reported Thursday, but that's unlikely to matter since the Hawks currently have the most cap space of any team. The Hawks declined a Sun-Times request for comment on the matter.

This resolution echoes past NHL disputes, reminiscent of the Sharks-Evander Kane saga in 2022, which also ended in a settlement.
