Leafs Superstar Takes A Shot At The Arizona Coyotes
Any hopes of NHL star Auston Matthews, a native of Arizona, suiting up for the Arizona Coyotes have been temporarily dashed. Matthews recently signed a four-year contract extension with the Maple Leafs, securing his immediate future in Toronto.
While many know of his childhood affinity for the then-named Phoenix Coyotes, Matthews couldn't resist a subtle dig at his former favorite team, quipping,
"Coyotes were never good enough to have a rival."
The question remains, could Matthews consider a homecoming once his new contract expires, particularly if the Coyotes transform into a competitive force by then?
