Brad Treliving, has already taken matters into his own hands. Actually even before signing a contract, he had already reached out to Leafs superstar Auston Matthews. Per Sportsnet's Leafs Insider Luke Fox.
Even before signing up his multi-year pact with the Maple Leafs, a contract that should extend Shanahan's own current deal, Treliving reached out to Auston Matthews' camp to open the lines of communication with the franchise's brightest star.
The proper Toronto introduction of the former Calgary Flames' General Manager will happen on Thursday, but important things are already underway for the Leafs.
Resigning Auston Matthews will be a big concern for the Toronto Maple Leafs, not just this offseason but having something in line for the 2024-25 season. A lot of fans were concerned with Kyle Dubas leaving, as it could result in Auston Matthews leaving the big six.
