The NHL has handed the Vancouver Canucks a major advantage before the puck has even dropped for game 7 tonight.

The advantage the Canucks have is that officials Chris Rooney and Jean Hebert will be officiating the game tonight. This might not seem like a big deal, but the reason it is raising eyebrows among Oilers fans is the Canucks record over the past three seasons when Rooney is the official for their games.

The Canucks are 15-3-1 when Rooney is an official for their games over the past three seasons, and the Oilers record is 14-10. This could just be a coincidence, but it sure seems the Canucks have a great advantage when he is an official for their games.

The Canucks are 10-0-1 over the past three regular seasons and 1-0 this postseason under referee Chris Rooney

This year during the playoffs, NHL officials have played a massive role and have seemed to favourite certain teams, only time will tell if the Canucks actually held the advantage or if they were just the better team.

As seen on Hockeyfeed - Canucks get a huge advantage over Oilers in Game 7
