Monday night wasn't a joyous occasion for Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy. In a rollercoaster game against the Devils, Cassidy's frustration spilled over.

Unhappy with his team's performance, he boldly likened it to a beer league game, an uncommon critique at the NHL level. Criticizing the lack of defensive structure and principles, he emphasized the careless and disrespectful plays.

VGK's Bruce Cassidy didn't hold back after the game in Newark, a 6-5 OT loss.

"We basically played a beer league game."

"We thought it was preseason, I guess."

"Careless, disrespectful to the game."

"We have a veteran 'D' corps and they were not good tonight as a group."

Despite overcoming a 3-1 deficit, the Golden Knights lost a 5-3 lead, ultimately succumbing in OT. Now, with injuries and defensive woes, they face a rejuvenated New York Islanders team on Tuesday, led by their new coach, Patrick Roy.
