Ex-Boston Bruin Frank Vatrano gets knocked out from a sucker punch from Klim Kostin
Former Boston Bruins forward Frank Vatrano was sucker punched by San Jose Sharks forward Klim Kostin in a little scrum near both of the benches.
During the San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Ducks game last night, a controversial moment took place in front of both of the benches. This game marked the first meeting between the two teams since making some upgrades in the off-season.
San Jose drafted Macklin Celebrini with the first overall pick in the 2024-25 Entry Level Draft, and instantly made an impact during his first game scoring a goal, and picking up an assist as well. But unfortunately would suffer an injury during his first NHL game and would miss the meeting between the Ducks that took place last night.
There were some other newcomers that would be present in the game like Will Smith, Tyler Toffoli, Cody Ceci, and Vitek Vanecek.
The Anaheim Ducks did not make as many new additions in the off-season as the San Jose Sharks did, but their young core is more experienced after playing some time in the NHL last. Mason McTavish, Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, and Trevor Zegras are all the future of the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks were missing their number one goaltender in John Gibson after undergoing appendectomy surger.
The Ducks ended up taking the win, but during the game an incident took place that caught the eye of a lot of people. Anaheim Ducks leading scorer last year, Frank Vatrano was on the receiving end of a sucker punch during the game.
This came from Vatrano getting into the heads of some of the Sharks players after giving Sharks forward Klim Kostin a crosscheck near the bench, Kostin turned around and retaliated by sucker punching him. Both players would receive a penalty on the play.
