McAvoy was a full participant in team practice Wednesday morning and was skating on the first pair with Hampus Lindholm for the first time this season. Matt Porter of The Boston Globe also reported this:

The exact same thing happened with Brad Marchand, and he made his debut the next day, way ahead of schedule. Of course, we can't read too much into these sorts of things or get our hopes up, but the last hint makes things very interesting,
The Bruins placed defenseman Mike Reilly on waivers today for the purpose of assignment to the AHL. If he's claimed, Boston will have enough space to activate McAvoy, but if he's not, they can place Derek Forbort on LTIR to make the room.
