The Florida Panthers started the season with an already questionable defensive core after they traded MacKenzie Weegar to the Calgary Flames this summer.
And now, they'll be without their top defenseman Aaron Ekblad for a significant amount of time after an injury in Monday's game against the Boston Bruins.
As per NHL insider Frank Seravalli:
''#FlaPanthers are indeed expecting to miss D Aaron Ekblad for a chunk of time on LTIR with a lower-body injury, the exact timeline TBD. But Ekblad is not expected to be out long enough to allow the Panthers to go shopping to replace him on the cap.''
