Prior to this season, A.J. Greer had just 16 points in 179 career games spanned over eight years.

When he signed a two-year, $1.5 million contract with the Bruins this summer, it's safe to say that Greer wasn't expected to be much more than an AHL regular.

However, the 26-year-old has stolen the hearts of the Boston faithful as he's quickly become a fan favourite with his hard nosed style of play. (It helps that he's added some offense from the fourth line too).

During the intermission of last night's game in Montreal, he shared just how far he's come from his childhood days in Quebec. While interviewing with Sophia Jurksztowicz of NESN, Greer shared an amazing story:

''I came here several times [as a kid] to watch the Canadiens play. I actually emptied my bank account one time. $200 to come to this game.''

'I think life just comes full circle. Work hard and good things will happen.''

He also discussed the culture of the Bruins team and how much it impacts everybody, especially seeing it first hand as a new player to Boston.

''As soon as you step in that locker room there's a set of values and respect for the guys around you but also for the logo, the city, and the hard working people who contribute to our success.''
