Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals is one of the best to ever play in the NHL, and his legend continued to grow Monday night.
With his team visiting the Carolina Hurricanes, Ovechkin broke an NHL record previously held by Hockey Hall of Famer Brett Hull. With his fifth goal of the 2022-23 season to put the Capitals up 2-1, Ovie made history:

He also has the opportunity to tie or pass another league record. Ovechkin (785 goals with WSH) needs one goal to tie Gordie Howe (786 goals with DET) for the most by a player with one franchise.
