Arizona Coyotes requested Bruins' youngster in a Jakob Chyrchrun deal

As reported by Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now, Coyote's general manager, Bill Armstrong, wanted rookie goaltender Jeremy Swayman to be part of the package for a deal involving Chyrchrun.

Bruins' general manager Don Sweeney wouldn't budge, and according to Murphy, he had several big-time deals on the table from interested GMs around the NHL.

Swayman finished the 2021-22 season with a record of 24-14-3, a 2.41 goals-against-average, a save percentage of .914 and 3 shutouts in 41 games this season. The rookie also took over the starter's crease in the playoffs, and in five games, he went 3-2 with a 2.63 GAA and a .911 SV%.

He followed up a terrific rookie campaign with a dominant performance at the IIHF World Championships with the United States. He finished the tournament with a goals-against-average of 2.23, a save percentage of .910 and two shutouts in seven games. That was after allowing eight goals in the bronze medal game to David Pastrnak and the Czechs, which inflated his stellar number a bit.

Chyrchrun finished the season with the Coyotes as he wasn't dealt by the deadline. He recorded 7 goals and 14 assists in 47 games while ending the season on the sidelines with a significant ankle injury. It was a massive step down from the 2020-21 season, where the defenseman collected 18 goals and 23 assists in 58 games played.
