Following their elimination in game five to their provincial rival Edmonton Oilers, the Calgary Flames held their end-of-season media availability Saturday morning.

Typically at this time, teams and players will reveal that players have been playing through injuries for quite some time and endured them late in the regular season or the playoffs. It showcases how tough hockey players are and how much they're willing to give to win the Stanley Cup.

Flames defenseman Nikita Zadorov revealed he suffered three fractured ribs in his team's first-round series against the Dallas Stars.

Defenseman Chris Tanev had maybe the most gruesome set of injuries on the team. He missed games six and seven against the Stars and didn't return until game four against the Oilers. He revealed that he played through a torn labrum, separated shoulder, and sprained neck. With two of their top defenseman injured, it couldn't have made it any easier to contain Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

Despite his poor play in the series, goaltender Jacob Markstrom confirmed he wasn't playing hurt or tired from a 70-plus game regular season and playoffs.
