Auston Matthews avoids punishment after hit to the head

When the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres faced off on Saturday night, the game came with its controversy after Auston Matthews delivered a high hit on Casey Mittelstadt.
The Sabres forward was caught in the neutral zone with the puck in his feet, and the Leafs' star appears to catch him near or in the head with his shoulder. See the hit below:
Matthews was given a two-minute minor for an illegal hit to the head on the play but has yet to hear from the NHL's Department of Player Safety, and probably won't at this point. It has, however, come with some controversy among hockey fans.
