The Boston Bruins and the Carolina Hurricanes are set to play in game seven of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Saturday night in Raleigh.

These two franchises have a history of game sevens as well, as Boston and Carolina will meet in a game seven for the third time in NHL history.
The first meeting took place on April 17th, 1990, between the Bruins and when the opposing franchise was still the Hartford Whalers. It was game seven of their opening-round series at Boston Garden, and the Bruins came away with a 3-1 victory. Andy Moog was the goaltender for Boston and Peter Sidorkiewicz for Hartford. John Byce, Craig Janney and Cam Neely scored for the Bruins, while Ron Francis scored the Whaler's lone goal.
The second meeting was 13 years ago today, on May 14th, 2009. Carolina posted a 3-2 overtime win at TD Garden to cap off the second-round matchup. Cam Ward and Tim Thomas were the goaltenders of record. Byron Blitz and Milan Lucic scored the Bruins' goals, and Rod Brind'Amour and Sergei Samsonov for the Hurricanes. Carolina forward Scott Walker had the overtime and series winner of the first overtime.
The Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes game seven this evening will mark the 13th anniversary of the two teams' last meeting in a game seven. It will be the first meeting between the two that the Hurricanes will be the home team. The Bruins have had a hard time winning at PNC Arena this season, where they are 0 for 6 and have been outscored 18-4 (including regular season).
The two franchises have met six times previously in the playoffs, and the Bruins have won five of them, aiming for their sixth tonight!
Here's a look back at the last game seven between the two. 13 years ago today:
