The Boston Bruins have been leading the way when it comes to goals scored this season. Through the club's first four games Boston has scored 21 goals. The Bruins have not scored 20 goals in their first four games of any season going back to 1992-93. They also notched 20 in their first four games of the 1990-91 campaign. The 21 goals scored is the highest amount since the Bruins put up 22 goals in the first four games of the 1985-86 season. In other word it has been a long time since Bruins fans have been treated to this kind of offensive-output.
The Bruins haven't just been getting their offence from one line either as has been much of the case in recent years. The goals are coming from throughout the entire lineup largely due to new head coach Jim Montgomery's offensive-focused systems.
Boston has started the season strong with a depleted defense corps due to injuries to Charlie McAvoy, Matt Grzelcyk, and Brandon Carlo. After on off-season where many questions surrounded the team the bruins find themselves sitting on top of the Atlantic Division with a 3-1 record in this early part of the season.
While the defence gave plenty more to be asked of during the game against Ottawa, the Bruins offence continued to pile up the goals. Should Boston be able to keep up the offensive production and continue to improve/get healthy from a defensive standpoint the wins will continue to pile up as well. Don't be surprised to see more than a few Bruins hit new career highs under Mongomery's coaching this season.
