Amid all the commotion of the retirement announcements from longtime NHLer Zdeno Chara and polarizing figure PK Subban, ironman Keith Yandle also revealed he is hanging up the skates after a 16-year career.

The Boston native was originally selected in the fourth round (105th overall) by the Phoenix Coyotes at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The defenseman appeared in 1,109 games with the Coyotes, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers and the Philadelphia Flyers and recorded 103 goals and 516 assists.

Yandle officially announced his retirement during the latest episode of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, which is hosted by his good friends and former NHLers Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette.

What Yandle is probably most likely known for is how healthy he stayed over his entire career. He holds the all-time ironman record for the most consecutive games played as of now, with 989 (Phil Kessel is currently at 982).

During the 202021 season, he became the third player ever to record 900 consecutive games played. Yandle passed Doug Jarvis's streak as the longest in NHL history on January 25th, 2022, after playing his 965th consecutive game.

Congrats on an incredible career to Keith Yandle!
