The Carolina Hurricanes continue to add to their already stacked blueline.
After acquiring Brent Burns from the San Jose Sharks earlier this summer, the Hurricanes have now signed another veteran defenseman to a professional tryout.
Hurricanes team reporter, Walt Ruff, was the first to report the signing:
''The #Canes have signed defenseman Calvin de Haan to a professional tryout (PTO).
A veteran of 520 NHL games, the 31-year-old played 74 of them with Carolina during the 2018-19 season.'' Calvin de Haan was originally selected in the first round (12th overall) by the New York Islanders at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The Ontario native has been an NHL regular his entire career, starting in the 2012-13 season.
The 31-year-old has appeared in 520 games with the Islanders, Hurricanes, and Chicago Blackhawks and has recorded 19 goals and 100 assists.
