The NHL and their teams are continuing to look for alternative forms of revenue, and for most teams that has meant selling advertisements on their helmets first, and now jerseys.
However, there's at least one team that has refused to follow along with this revenue stream.
According to @nhlbreakers on Instagram, the Edmonton Oilers have refused multiple offers from sponsors to try and buy jersey space. Oilers management have apparently been quoated as saying that jersey advertisements are 'not something that is necessary''.
Although only a handful of teams have officially announced jersey ads next season and beyond, it's nice to see that some teams are unwilling to follow suit. Maybe having the best player in the world in Connor McDavid is enough of an advertisement for the Oilers.
